Enterprise Event at Pilgrim Primary School in Plymouth

Enterpreneurial pupils at Pilgrim Primary School in Plymouth had been supported by Europa Training UK Team and Plymouth Argyle Academy players, to give thier money making sheme a boost at a special Enterprise Fair on Friday, 4th July 2014.

We recently arranged for the three players to attend the event at Pilgrim Primary School as one of the groups of students had set up a business venture with a very topical football theme.

Throughout the term, all the school’s students had been learning how to save and be responsible with their money. Each class had made a specific product to sell at the fair – with the aim of making a profit.

One group of students told our MD, Gosia, how they were creating bracelets from the current rainbow loom craze in the colours of countries participating in the recent football World Cup in Brazil to sell.

Gosia was visiting the school at the time with eight teachers from Poland who were in Plymouth on an educational fact finding visit - and she was so impressed with the students’ ideas she agreed to sponsor their enterprising venture.

As well as the bracelets, Gosia suggested they had cupcakes made, also in the colours of the world cup countries, and after taking delivery of them, the students fixed each country’s flag, made out of edible paper, to the cakes.

She then contacted Plymouth Argyle Academy to ask if they could support the event and they were delighted to help – sending three members of the youth team to the fair.

Then the students hit upon a great idea to boost sales – if customers bought one of their cakes they could have their photo taken with the visiting Argyle Academy players.

“I was amazed by all the money making ideas the students had and thought I would help them maximise their sales potential,“ said Gosia.

“As they had a distinctly football theme to their business plans, I wondered if Plymouth Argyle Academy would like to support the students and I am so grateful they agreed.

“I think the players were impressed by the youngsters’ business skills too, and who knows, some of them could be the entrepreneurial success stories of tomorrow.”
